As the concrete deck is transformed, affirming pride in belonging: outreach workshops with young people, and the memories of the seniors at Bagnolia.

“Les Malassis used to be a nice, quiet neighborhood. We miss the friendliness and the neighborly ties.” In the summer and fall of 2025, outreach photography workshops were held on the concrete deck, along with sound, writing, and photography workshops with the seniors who come to Bagnolia, a day center.

The exhibition, on the concrete deck and around it, brings back places that have vanished or moved, such as the corner store on rue Pierre-et-Marie-Curie, the Suma or the Bergerie, right next to the buildings that are about to be demolished or renovated. The opening was a real meeting between generations.

The places of the neighborhood, those that remain, those that have changed, those that are about to disappear, told by the older people of Bagnolia and the young: Kobi, the conservatory, Suma, the Secours populaire, the Chonavel school.

Former temporary grocery store: Kobi. It was closed by the authorities, then reopened.

I lived in this building for 15 years. I lived on the first floor of 9 rue Lucien Sampaix. The building is behind the market.

32 Pierre-et-Marie-Curie, on the concrete slab. It is going to be renovated.

centre culturel

The Erik Satie conservatory. It hosts music, dance and theater activities, and you can take care of paperwork there. All the buildings you can see are going to be demolished except 32 Pierre-et-Marie-Curie, which is going to be renovated.

Building at the top of the market, 6 rue Lucien Sampaix, next to the parcel point. It replaced Suma, the big greengrocer.

The neighborhood's cultural center, Pablo Neruda. It was created recently, long after the conservatory.

le secours populaire

The Secours populaire had been here a long time. In 1970, it was already there. We often went to the Secours populaire to give accessories and belongings. A very good friend of ours works there, Lydia.

There used to be a hairdresser here, a café-tobacconist, a driving school, Suma, which was a supermarket, a bookshop, a horse butcher, a butcher, a grocery, a tailor, a jeweler and a bank. Today, the pharmacy is what's left.

It's the Jacqueline Chonavel school, which used to be the second part of the Bagnolet Bergerie, with a parcel point, the childminder and a nursery. It stayed with me because I watched the building work right up to the opening.
