- Exhibition at the community center and in the alleyways.
In the Júlio Otoni favela, the project was aimed at children, in connection with the community center. The process fostered attentiveness, self-expression, and confidence, while producing rich, sensory material about the neighborhood: how it is used, its tiny corners, the ways people move through it.
“The Júlio Otoni community is in the Santa Teresa neighborhood. It's small and calm. The residents stick together,” the children write. “Here there's the football pitch, the bakery, bars, a pizzeria, a barber's, the Pracinha and the community center. We love sport: judo, capoeira, kickboxing, football and jiu-jitsu.” The photographs, the mapping and the sound interviews became an exhibition at the community center.
The images and stories came back to the community center and onto the walls of the favela.
